35th IEC Dublin Congress Highlights (EN)

The 35th International Epilepsy Congress (IEC) took place between the 2nd and 6th of September 2023, in Dublin, Ireland. A satellite symposium sponsored by Eisai titled ‘Early use of adjunctive antiseizure medications and potential impact on quality of life’ was held on Sunday 2nd September. This session covered the impact of epilepsy on the daily lives of people with epilepsy, including the impact of antiseizure medications and polypharmacy on their quality of life. The clinical challenges faced by physicians when deciding to switch from monotherapy and the selection of appropriate adjunctive therapies were also explored. In addition, real-world data on the use of perampanel as an early or late adjunctive therapy in patients with focal and generalised seizures collected in the PERMIT
